Hey Jim, got a recipe for the Jig yer using on those footballs?
I live on Lake Champlain and my father and I love to go jigging and downrigging for Landlocks and Lakers. We have a few of our own favorites, but I was wondering what type of tackle you use on those spinning rods
One of my favorite ties is white and purple marabou tied on white jig heads
I also tie up some pretty mean tandem streamers. Our favorite would have to be a Governour Aiken or a Magog Smelt........damn, cant forget the Gray Ghost either
The largest laker we've taken to date weighed in at just a tad over 13lbs. Nothing compared
to your daily catch, but when an 8lb laker is pretty big for the body of water your fishing, 13 lbs is phenomenal. DAMN LAMPREYS

Just another day in the life of Jim Williams on The Gorge. WOW!
Do you know any of those piggies by name by now, Jim?

Re: Flaming Gorge Macks
As far as a jig "recipe", I've been using garden-variety tube jigs all season this year. I use white ones, or green ones. That's it. Light or dark. 4-6 inchers, depending on my fishermen, the wind, and the mood of the fish. I can also tell you this: The size, design, and color of the jig you use is the LEAST IMPORTANT part of the entire equation. Presentation, boat control, focus, more presentation, and more focus are MUCH more important than the piece of plastic that's dropped in their face. Its the "little things", not the lure. The "little things" would be an entire book, and I haven't even started it yet!
I have many different presentations we use, and each one has its little quirks, advantages, and disadvantages. Describing each one would be a whole chapter alone.
As for names for these fish, oh yeah, I have some for the lock-jawed, moody, finicky, rotten SOB's.
But, I probably can't write them here!
Oh yeah, I do run into a few fish on most days that I really like because they chose to eat my jig, but they are few and far between compared to the number of fish I drop said jigs to every day. I do usually thank them before I release them, though I'm sure they don't give a damn. Currently, I'm getting bit by fewer than 1 out of a hundred. Yes, I have names for them . . . Good thing one bites once in a while.
