It's tailwater time for those looking for trout on the fly in N GA water. The Chattahoochee from Buford Dam down to Morgan Falls is fishing really well right now. A lot of Browns and Rainbows being caught on nymph rigs. One of my most successful nymph rigs right now is #14 Prince with a #18 Pheasant Tail or #18 Rainbow Warrior dropper.
Up on the Toccoa tailwater there's been great action on dry flies and dry/dropper rigs. Match-the-hatch fishing with Caddis, Sulphurs, or BWOs has been great when the bugs are active, and the terrestial fishing is just starting to pick up, with ants, hoppers, and beetles drawing fish to the surface. Dry/dropper rigs with a #14 tan Caddis and a #18/#20 Black Zebra Midge droppper on 7X tippet has been a hot combo as well. Rainbows, Browns, and even Brookies near the dam are being caught in great numbers right now. The water's gin clear, so you've got to go with 5X/6X leaders and 6X/7X tippet. Use flurocarbon on your nymph rigs and droppers; it really makes a difference with the water this clear.
Good luck!
