Anyone lake fish for trout on the east coast?

Postby wetnet on Sun Aug 24, 2008 8:23 am

We live in Northeast Pa. Need to find some trout waters to hit. Lakes. We can only do weekends and can stay over but am looking for some practice water for my son who has high aspirations of one day making the adult team for Team USA Fly fishing. We like everyone else in life are on a budget which always seems to take precident over catching a plane to fish lakes out west. He's been promised a free 14 foot jon boat we have an trolling motor. We need to find a cheap trailer and I'm tempted to place a wanted ad for "Free Trailer". You never know! We don't live in an area that has trout lakes but with sleeping bags in hand we'll drive as far as we can as long as he's back at college on Monday.

Round Valley Reservoir in west-central NJ has produced multiple state records, and is free to fish aside from your license. Here's a link to the Round Valley Trout Association's website:

The closest bait & tackle shop is Lebanon Bait & Sport on Hwy 22 West

Both sound great! We'll see what happens for next year. After Colorado my son needs to hit the books. Actually Western NJ may be doable for a long weekend this year. We live in North Eastern Pa. Lots of planning for lots of fishing trips for next year. Thanks!!
