I began tying 2 years ago. I quickly progressed and the cheaper single axis vises that you find in one of those tying kits just was cutting it anymore. I needed a new vise. I wasnt great, but better than average at tying many different styles of flies. I got an itch to tie Salmon flies and Rangeley style streamers, I mean they just looked so damn cool. I couldnt (at the time) justify spending more than $125 on a vise and it had to be rotary. SO, I found through one of those large supermarkets, an Anvil Apex for $99.99. I still use that vise to this day with no regrets. I tie a variety of sizes from 1/0 down to #24 and its still holding them like the day I got it in the mail. One of the things that really sold it was that it came with a C-Clamp and pedestal. Not a bad bang for the buck I'd say :perfect:

PS.....My next vise (if I ever need another) will either be a Renzetti OR a LAW :good:

Isnt the Nor-vise for someone who ties almost strictly rotary? I thought about one of those too :!:
They run around $399 right :?:

I use a Renzetti Traveler for years and still do from time to time, but now it is the Vosseler.
I love the dual jaws, and the suction cup mount, plus all the different positions. And yes it is a rotary.

I don't tie. Bad eyes and shaky hands but my son uses a Mongoose. He loves it since he competes. It's portable and quality. He has never been sorry he bought it and he spends hundreds of hours at the vise.

I too have the Vosseler, and the Renzetti Traveler. I even made an arm for the bobbin in my Vosseler so I can use it as a rotary. Simple coat hanger.

I don't tie. Probably bleed to death stabbing myself on the hooks. My Son uses a Mongoose. It has been awesome thus far. He has to travel with comps and it has treated him well. As far as an upgrade he's looking so any advice would be good.
