Does anyone have any recipes they'd like to share? If so this is the place. I'm on a hairwing kick right now and will have pictures to follow soon

Keep it simple, and use foam for the body. Attach some foam to the hook shank, tie in a couple of rubber legs on the sides of the front portion of the body, and tie in your hair wing on top of the shank in front of the body, leaving enough head space to secure the hair and tie off the fly. Don't tie in too much wing. The wings of an adult salmon fly are transparent, not thick and heavy. It's very simple, quick and easy to tie, durable, floats like a cork, and gives a very realistic impression TO THE FISH LOOKING UP! That's what you want in a fly, not something pretty and over-dressed for a fly bin, and too gaudy for any wise trout to eat. Tie to catch fish, not fishermen. Most flies are over-tied and over-dressed. Real insects, even big salmon flies, are pretty sparse.

I get ya! I think of "salmon flies" as the big stone flies we have here out west. I think of yours as "Atlantic Salmon Flies." Besides, those are all way too pretty for me.

This is my own pattern which I have not used yet. It was created to commerate working Alsatians (German Shepherds) but is meant to be fishable as well.
They are tied using a brown dyed Black and White Lace Saddle from Whiting (American grade). The hook should be Alec Jackson though the light one is not.
Dubbing matches the brown in the feather and the darker Alsatian includes some natural black iridescent schlappen.
Hairwing is black bucktail and the cheek piece is peacock crest.

Hey there. Yes you probably have, I have been Inconnu since 1995 and I frequent a few boards, though nowhere near what I used to. I'm glad you like the patterns, I just started learning the spey style hackle last winter and hope to make more headway on it this winter as well.....Kerry
