I was blessed to get in some fishing before the heavy rains on Colorado's Front Range last week. Clear Creek outside Idaho Springs (along the I-70 corridor) was running high, but clear. The new owner of Clear Creek Outdoors (formerly "Your Fishing Partner") gave me the right advice and flies. All I needed was a foam caddis on top and a crystal caddis emerger as a dropper. The crystal emerger got more fish in the brighter evening light, and the foam caddis hooked more fish as the light faded. The next morning before sunrise, it was a little more of the same. I just needed to add a little weight to the emerger. Lots of small browns and a few rainbows in the 6 - 12" range. Fun time. Then I had to drive to Denver Int'l and fly back to the East Coast. Next time, I'll rent a float tube for Georgetown Lake and bigger fish. Tight lines,

Nice Yellowstone! You keep searching, and you'll find some very nice browns in Clear Creek. Once the fall spawn begins, if you head to the Georgetown inlet, you'll be right where you need to be
